Nationwide Awareness programme against selling Hazardous Incense Sticks
A nationwide awareness campaign was launched to curb the sale of spurious incense sticks being imported from China and illegally sold in the market of India in the name of effective mosquito repellent. A renowned country-based NGO, took the initiative of making the mass aware of the harmful side effects of using such incense sticks as those can lead to life-endangering diseases like genetic mutation, leukaemia, severe respiratory and neurological problems. The campaign was funded by leading corporate houses and concerned authorities which could take the entire mission to a significant level.
Taking the responsibility of handling the PR in eastern India of such a huge and noble mission, our team made exclusive story with the leading print and broadcast media houses on each spot of campaign. The activity was boosted on the domain of print media to a large extent targeting the homemakers especially with the request of not buying such products. District and state level authorities were approached to support the initiative with the aim of giving it much prominence in the society.
The campaign acted as an eye-opener for the majority of the population, driving their concern to buy a disease repellent just to invite another one. The campaign received quite a good response from the entire country and many shopkeepers were convinced to not keep harmful incense sticks in their stock.
